Technology Integration Facilitators (TIF) Program
The TIF institute is a three-year institute designed to provide leadership in the areas of technology integration and support in the development of technology competencies for all faculty and staff in the Grand Island School District. The goal of the institute is to train teachers in the use of instructional technology and to provide a self-sustaining network of peer support. The following are some of the institute highlights:
- 30 hour in-service course will be required as orientation for each participant
- TIF participants will meet 4 to 5 times during the school year to support each other, share technology tips and integration ideas, and to receive training on new software and hardware
- Each TIF participant will work with 3-5 teacher "protegees" in his/her building to support them in integrating technology into their curriculum and increasing their personal level of technology competency
- Each TIF participant will work with the Technology Integration Specialist in their building to develop a schedule of professional development geared for the needs of the teachers in their building
- Each person who is accepted into the institute will be provided with a new networkable laptop computer that can be used at home or school
